The Loss of a Child from a Sibling’s Perspective

A Brother’s Love – Remembering Henry Nowak

Losing my brother Henry has changed my life in ways I don’t think I’ll ever be able to fully explain. When you lose a sibling, you don’t just lose a brother, you lose someone who has been part of your world for as long as you can remember. Someone who shares your childhood, your memories, your family, and all those little moments that nobody else will ever quite understand.

One of the hardest things about losing Henry has been trying to deal with my own grief whilst watching the people I love struggle with theirs. Sometimes you feel like you need to be strong for everyone else, even when you’re falling apart yourself.

There’s a sadness in knowing that all the moments we should have shared, the milestones, the laughter, the memories we were yet to make, have been taken away from us.

Losing Henry has taught me that sibling grief isn’t always seen or understood, but it is very real. He wasn’t just my brother, he was part of who I am, and although life will never be the same without him, he will always be part of me.

I’ll carry Henry with me in everything I do, for the rest of my life.
